In an effort to provide an excuse to socialize, provide background noise when needed and to build some community and restart Dinner and a Movie nights, RenderMan has donated the use of a XIOS DS Media Play! box for use in the space on the TV in the front lounge area.

'''Media Player Specifics'''<br>

The player is a small white box running Android.  It immediatly boots into XBMC.  '''PLEASE DO NOT HACK OR TRY TO REFLASH THE MEDIA PLAYER''' we want to keep it working for everyone and it is still the property of RenderMan.

The device can play 1080p video very nicely (some slight stuttering on our current network, plans to upgrade the switch are pending) and display nearly any file formt.

Menus can be accessed using the accompanying white remote control.  If you are unsure of how to navigate, please ask someone else or google it or check out the XBMC wiki: [http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_Quick_Start_Guide http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_Quick_Start_Guide XBMC Wiki]

The TV must be changed to source 'HDMI 1' and the HDMI cable from the device plugged in to 'HDMI 1'Periodically another member may unplug the HDMI or power cables and not put them backThose people suck.  Simply plug in the cables and leave it in working order for the next person if this is the case.

Media can be played from many sources. The primary is over the network from our file server 'Atlas' <INSERT ATLAS IP HERE>

At night, not much changes. I am a hacker at heart, a pirate by political affiliation and a wifi badass by hobby.  I can usually be found wardriving, working on new ways to subvert security, playing mad scientist with electronics or more than likely taking some cherished childhood toy and perverting it into something horrible.

Media uploaded to //Atlas/media and the appropriate directory will be added to the XBMC database periodically and be available to play.  This includes movies, TV shows, conference videos, documentaries, photo's and music.  If you think it is of interest to members, upload it and share it!

Inevitably, the question of copyright will come upENTS or its directors has no control, nor cares what is uploaded to the media server and made available to other membersThis system is provided for the benefit of the community and is a public medium.  Members are assumed to abide by nessecary laws and that they are mature enough not to abuse it.

Bio

I break stuff. I occasionally help fix it. Depends on what I'm being paid for.

By day I'm a consultant for all sorts of companies and agencies. Focusing primarily in Wireless security but I also do all sorts of other things in Penetration Testing and education. I also speak very frequently around the world on a bunch of topics, from privacy issues to new wireless security research to zombies.

Projects

Currently I am the biggest noisemaker at the space about getting the place organized. I normally am not the most organized person, but in this case, it needs to be done, so I'm doing it. I also help out whenever I can and take on tasks as needed.

ENTS projects:

I admin the wireless network

I teach lockpicking (dates pending)

I teach wireless security (dates pending)

Personal Projects:

A recreation of Castor's Cane from 'Tron Legacy' - Build Log 'Creepy' OLED enabled goggles with voice reactive LED respirator - Build Log Talking Care Bear brain transplant Teddy Ruxpin bluetooth enhanceent

I am usually tinkering with something when time allows. For the most part, ENTS itself is my biggest project

Security Meetups

In an effort to try and build more of a hacker community in Edmonton, I am restarting my Security meetups. Discussions of the various recent attacks, conference videos, just a way for security people to hang out and learn from one another.

Due to my speaking schedule, it's been difficult to pick a day where I know I will be around on a regular basis. I will advise when things get setup.
